Our Vision
The data needs for research are growing at a fast pace and the need for collaboration around data has never been clearer. Physical Sciences research data is currently being neglected. It is often inaccessible, unreproducible and cannot be used for further discovery, we’re here to help change that. PSDI is a community of researchers making Physical Sciences research data accessible and reproducible through the creation of the first UK Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure. While existing specialised data infrastructures exist they are highly tailored to specific fields, PSDI aims to provide layers that can complement existing resources enabling collaboration and thereby the acceleration of Physical Sciences discoveries.

Welcome to the first release of the PSDI platform. A Digital Infrastructure providing access to tools, services, data and guidance resources to support UK researchers.
“PSDI is a vision for how the physical sciences can transition to become a fully connected and digital discipline. Data needs in research are growing at unimaginable rates, and this programme is at the forefront of developing an integrated and consistent technological environment for researchers nationwide.”
Juan Bicarregui, PSDI STFC Lead
Through the adoption of this infrastructure, we hope to transform the UK Physical Sciences research culture and develop an environment that is more collaborative, interdisciplinary and effective so we can meet the industrial, digital and technological needs of our modern world.
